ACCIDENT — Northern led 3-0 and never looked back, cruising to a 12-2 six-inning win over Mountain Ridge on Monday.
Luke Ross allowed two runs on four hits and two walks with seven strikeouts for the Huskies (7-1, 4-1 Western Maryland Athletic Conference) across six innings.
Ross, Liam Stewart and Jacob Chambers each recorded two hits while Devin McKenzie and Luke Brenneman drove in two RBIs each.
Brady Moran hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning that put the Miners (2-5, 0-3 WestMAC) on the board.
Moran allowed five earned runs across 3 1/3 innings with eight hits, two walks and four strikeouts as Mountain Ridge’s starter.
The Miners head to Allegany (4-3, 2-3 WestMAC) on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
The Huskies face No. 4 Southern at home on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
Spring Mills 10, Keyser 0
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Spring Mills scored nine of its 10 runs in the fifth inning, leading to a five-inning shutout of Keyser on Monday.
The Cardinals put 10 consecutive runners on in the fifth inning, leading to eight runs.
Jacob Cumley went five innings for Spring Mills, only allowing one hit while striking out 13.
Mikey Mongold recorded the Golden Tornado’s (4-7) only hit, a single in the third inning.
Keyser hosts Jefferson on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m.
Doddridge County 5, Moorefield 1
MOOREFIELD, W.Va. — Tristan Swiger went the distance for Doddridge County, leading the Bulldogs over Moorefield on Monday.
Swiger only allowed three hits and an unearned run with six strikeouts.
Caleb Sutton hit a solo home run for Doddridge County in the first inning.
Kail Greenwalt went four innings for the Yellow Jackets (1-8), allowing six hits, four runs and two walks.
Ben Watts led Moorefield with two hits including a double.
The Yellow Jackets host East Hardy (1-5) on Tuesday before heading to Pendleton on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
Broadfording 10, Calvary 0
HAGERSTOWN — Calvary’s errors proved costly in Monday’s five-inning shutout at Broadfording.
The Eagles (1-5) committed five errors which directly led to two runs.
Three runners who reached on an error would later score.
Angel Espinal threw a five inning no-hitter for the Lions, walking three and striking out seven.
Miguel Perez went 3 for 4 with three RBIs and a stolen base for Broadfording.
Calvary is at Bishop Walsh on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
