CUMBERLAND — Northern scored nine unanswered runs to defeat Riverside Sports, 10-5, in a senior rec league game Monday at Washington Middle.
Riverside (6-4) held a 4-1 lead after four innings, but Northern (10-2) plated two runs in the fourth, one in the fifth and two in each the sixth and seventh innings to win.
Blake Spiker doubled and tripled for Northern, Elliott Myers-Shirer and Landon Yoder tripled and Gavin Maust doubled. Yoder, Spiker, Maust and Caden Frazee had two hits each, Yoder scored three times and Frazee tallied two RBIs.
Frazee recorded the victory on the mound, throwing 4 2/3 innings of relief in which he allowed an unearned run on two hits, striking out nine and walking one.
Carson Durst had two of Riverside’s three base hits.
Northern and Riverside have a doubleheader rematch at Grantsville Park Wednesday beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Junior Division
Frankfort 3, Northern 2
POTOMAC PARK — A pair of Northern errors lifted Frankfort to a Hot Stove Junior Division victory at Memorial Field on Monday.
The first on a Beckham Dolly fly ball tied the game at 2 in the fourth, and one on Mason Whitacre’s grounder a batter later gave Frankfort the lead for good.
Parker Pritts pitched a scoreless fifth for the save. Christian Hyett earned the win, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits in four innings.
Caleb Yoder was dealt the loss for Northern despite allowing just one hit in 4 2/3 innings. The two errors netted Frankfort its three unearned runs.
Northern faces Chessie Federal Credit Union at Glendening Field on Wednesday at 6 p.m. Frankfort battles Cumberland Rotary at Memorial Field at the same time.
Bedford 13, Rotary 3
POTOMAC PARK — Bedford plated 11 runs over the final two frames to score a victory over Cumberland Rotary on Monday at Memorial Field.
Jude Chamberlain tripled and had four RBIs for Bedford (6-1), and Evan Shackley and Elijah Lamb had two ribbies apiece.
Lamb was the winning arm. He allowed three unearned runs on five hits in 4 2/3 frames, striking out six and walking none.
Carson Wilhelm had two hits for Rotary, and Isaac Metcalf had two runs batted in.
Wilhelm was tabbed with the loss on the mound.
Bedford takes on the Cresaptown Eagles at Holler Field on Wednesday at 6 p.m. Rotary faces Frankfort at Memorial Field at the same time.
