DANVERS — Almost 350 students from more than 30 high schools, including those on Cape Ann, were singled out this year by the North Shore Chamber of Commerce for their academic achievements.
The high school seniors honored are in the top 5% of their graduating class. The students were recognized as North Shore Chamber of Commerce 2025 Honor Scholars and celebrated for their achievements during the North Shore Chamber’s Honor Scholars Recognition Dinner on May 15.
At the dinner, each student was presented with a certificate and recognized by name on stage.
Seven students from Manchester Essex Regional High School were honored, according to Superintendent Pamela Beaudoin and Principal Julie Sgroi. They are Brigid Carovillano, Josh Cohen, Jack Cummins, Summer Demeo, Charlie Langendorf, Stella Straub and Whitney Turner.
“We are incredibly proud to have several students recognized for their commitment to academic excellence, which they have worked toward for the entirety of their high school careers,” Sgroi said. “We are confident that these students will continue to excel after they graduate from MERHS. We wish them the best of luck in their futures.”
The students deserved the recognition for their accomplishments, Beaudoin said.
“We are proud to create an educational environment where our students can thrive academically,” she said. “The achievement of these students is a further testament to the excellence of our students, community, staff and faculty.”
The event features a keynote speech by Jake Thibeault, a former Milton Academy hockey player who was paralyzed from the waist down when injured in a hockey game, and who perseveres with a “no quit” attitude.
Todd Angilly, the official singer of the national anthem for the Boston Bruins, perform the anthem prior to the Honor Scholars students receiving certificates.
