Union County shut down North Murray 21-0 Friday night in Blairsville to mark the first time the Mountaineers have been shut out since 2011.
The Mountaineers (3-2, 2-1 Region 7-2A) had a handful of drives reach deep into Union County (2-3, 2-1 Region 7-2A) territory in the game, including one set up by a Trenton Manis interception, but Union County turned the Neers back on downs each time.
Union County led 6-0 at halftime after a Kamden Kendrick touchdown pass to Isiah Landu-Figuero early in the second quarter.
North Murray starting quarterback Hudson Hulett left the game with an injury in the second half, with Connor Ponders replacing him and leading some more deep North Murray drives that were shut down.
Kendrick hit Maddox Young for a TD pass in the third, and Young added a short rushing touchdown in the fourth.
The game was the first meeting between the new Region 7-2A opponents.
North Murray is off next week and will return to action to travel to Sonoraville on Oct. 4 at 7:30 p.m.
