Ladd McConkey has been spending his spring showcasing his football talents at scouting events ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft.
The North Murray High School graduate and former Georgia Bulldog wide receiver will soon appear on a baseball diamond as well.
McConkey is set to make an appearance back in his home are of Northwest Georgia and throw out the first pitch at an upcoming Rome Emperors game, the High-A minor league affiliate of the MLB’s Atlanta Braves announced.
The Chatsworth native will toss out the first pitch prior to the Emperors’ game against the Hickory Crawdads on April 6 at 5 p.m. McConkey is also set to be available for a photo opportunity at the game at AdventHealth Stadium in Rome, the team announced.
The team was previously known as the Rome Braves.
McConkey wrapped his career at Georgia as a two-time national champion wide receiver after starring at multiple positions at North Murray.
McConkey won the 2023 Wuerffel Trophy, which highlights on-field success and community service.
McConkey is projected to be picked in the late first round or early second round in April’s draft by most major sports media sites.
