It won’t be easy finding a parking space on Dale Avenue downtown starting Monday as much of the street will be designated “no parking” due to sidewalk and curbing construction, the city said.
There will be no parking on much of Dale Avenue between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, for the work, from April 15 to April 30. The city is asking that residents to please respect the signage.
Starting Monday, the contractor will begin sidewalk and curbing construction from Prospect Street to Warren Street.
The work does not include sidewalks in front of the Post Office on Dale Avenue. Residents will be able to access the Post Office and dentist office in the event the contractor closes the road.
In addition, the sidewalk in front of Sawyer Free Library on Dale Avenue, which is presently blocked off by construction fencing for the library’s ongoing addition and renovation project, will not be included in this work as it will be repaired once the library project is finished.
The city said the work is weather dependent. Questions about the project should be directed to the Department of Public Works at 978-281-9785.
Parking may not be so tight Monday around City Hall as it will be closed in observance of Patriots’ Day. City Hall will reopen Tuesday for regular business hours. Trash and recycling will not be collectedMonday and collection will follow a holiday schedule for the week with collection delayed by one day.
