OAKLAND — Behind four second-half goals and a Liam Hamilton hat trick, No. 5 Fort Hill routed Southern, 5-1, on Tuesday night.
The win was Fort Hill’s fourth in a row, upping the Sentinels’ record to 5-2 overall and 1-2 in the Western Maryland Athletic Conference. Southern fell to 1-5 (0-3 WestMAC).
Fort Hill led 1-0 at the half after a goal by Hamilton, assisted by Sam Spencer, with 18:36 to play.
Jacob Bone garnered an unassisted goal just 1:18 into the second half, and Shane Sisler got the Rams on the board with a penalty kick score with 31:51 on the clock.
Fort Hill ended the match on a 3-0 run. Goals by Hamilton assisted by John Reinhardt (28:33) and Vincent Largent (8:17) sandwiched an unassisted score by Reinhardt with 24:57 remaining.
Fort Hill ended with a 22-15 edge in shots, and Southern had more corner kicks, 4-2. Sentinel keeper Bobby Brauer made seven saves, and the Rams’ Brady Spotts had 15.
Fort Hill hosts No. 4 Mountain Ridge (3-3-1, 2-1 WestMAC) on Thursday at 7 p.m. Southern hosts No. 1 Allegany (7-0-1, 3-0 WestMAC) on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
No. 2 Calvary 4, Faith 1
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Second-ranked Calvary bounced back from its first loss of the season with a victory over Faith on Tuesday.
Calvary (11-1-1) led 1-0 at the half. The Eagles had two goals each from Jake MacGray and Sammy Scritchfield.
Calvary struck first at the 11:50 mark when goalie Peyton Poland booted a long ball to Scritchfield, hitting him in stride as he put it in the net.
Calvary added another goal at the 66:13 mark of the second half when Elijah Ziler took a free kick from on the end line from 25 yards out, finding MacGray in the box for a nheader.
Calvary went up 3-0 when Scritchfield took an uncleared ball out of the box and drilled it at the 67:35 mark.
Faith got on the board with 10 minutes to play after Jared Keppley headed a cross by Trevor Gardner into the goal over the Calvary keeper’s hands.
Calvary added another late goal in the 78-minute mark when Silas Leith made a pass to MacGray, who scored putting Calvary up 4-1 for the final goal.
Calvary out shot Faith, 13-6, and had the advantage in corner kicks, 8-2. Poland made nine saves for Calvary, and Faith’s Daniel Hobbs made nine stops.
Calvary is at New Life on Friday at 4:30 p.m.
