WEIRTON, W.Va. — Fourth-ranked Keyser scored the first 34 points en route to a 34-6 rout of Weir on Friday at Jimmy Carey Stadium.
The Golden Tornado are 4-1 for the first time since 2022. Their four-game winning streak after a Week 1 loss to Pendleton County is their first in five years when they won seven straight to begin the 2019 campaign.
Keyser led 14-0 after the first quarter, 17-0 at the half and 27-0 entering the fourth. Weir fell to 0-5.
Dom Crawford scored twice in the first quarter on touchdown runs of five and eight yards. A pair of Tommy Nash field goals spanning 25 and 34 yards in the middle quarters sandwiched a nine-yard passing score from Addison Brafford to Grayson Lambka.
Owen Rotruck found the end zone on a 14-yard scamper in the fourth quarter to cap Keyser’s scoring.
Weir’s lone touchdown came on a 25-yard fumble return for a touchdown in the fourth.
Lambka had 13 carries for 135 yards, Crawford added 76 yards on the ground and Brafford rushed for 57 yards. Brafford also threw for 106 yards, with Lambka ending with 50 receiving yards.
Keyser hosts John Marshall (4-1) on Friday at 7 p.m.
Southern 19 Berkeley Springs 13
OAKLAND — Jacob Brown rushed for 102 yards and two touchdowns, and Southern outlasted Berkeley Springs on Friday to improve to 2-3.
The Rams’ two wins tie last season’s total with four regular season games and a playoff contest to go.
Southern’s Hayden Williams added eight rushes for 54 yards and a touchdown, and Pierce Ramos had 11 carries for 40 yards.
Brown completed two passes for 27 yards.
The Rams’ defensive leaders were Will Dixon with five tackles, Williams with five stops and an interception, and Karmen Holland with a pair of sacks.
Berkeley Springs quarterback Jalen Miller completed 13 of 23 passes for 166 yards and a touchdown to Kyle Moore, who caught seven balls for 100 yards.
However, the Rams’ run defense stuffed the Indians, holding them to 42 yards on 12 carries. Steven Schmidt scored Berkeley Springs’ other touchdown on the ground.
Berkeley Springs’ Henry Brown intercepted a pass.
Southern is at Allegany (1-4) on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
Doddridge County 21 No. 3 Petersburg 7
WEST UNION, W.Va. — Third-ranked Petersburg led at the half, but Doddridge County scored 21 unanswered points Friday to win the battle of unbeatens.
Petersburg (5-1) took the lead when Payton Metheny connected with Evan Tawney for a 43-yard touchdown. Metheny finished 19 for 39 through the air for 240 yards.
He had three targets over 70 yards in Lukas Wolford (three catches, 78 yards), Tawney (six catches, 76 yards) and Kaleb Kuhn (eight catches, 73 yards).
Lyric Blake scored two second-half touchdowns for Doddridge County (5-0), one via the run and one in the air.
Blake ended with 149 yards on 21 carries, and he added a 17-yard reception for six points. Brysen Eidel accounted for the Bulldogs’ other touchdown.
Doddridge County’s pass rush gave Petersburg fits, sacking the Vikings seven times with five players. Samuel James and Dayne Murphy brought down the quarterback twice each.
Doddridge held Petersburg to minus 12 rushing yards on 16 carries.
Petersburg is at Philip Barbour on Friday at 7 p.m.
