ACCIDENT — No. 2 Mountain Ridge won 4-1 over No. 3 Northern on Wednesday at Half-Mile High Stadium.
Fiona Ruddell either scored or assisted on both of the Miners’ (10-2-1, 6-1-1 WestMAC) first-half goals.
Ruddell set up Allie Knieriem at the 35:18 mark to open the scoring, then scored unassisted with 3:50 before halftime.
In the second half, Northern scored an own goal before Lyla Robeson converted a penalty kick less than 30 seconds later for Mountain Ridge.
Ainsley McHenry-Sorber prevented the shutout for the Huskies (9-5, 3-5 WestMAC) with an unassisted score with just over 10 minutes remaining.
The Miners led 27-15 in shots including 16-13 on goal and also led 4-2 in corner kicks.
Northern’s Veda Rebuck and Mountain Ridge’s Taylor Lamberson each recorded 12 saves.
The Miners conclude the regular season at home on Thursday against Williamsport while the Huskies await the start of the Regional Playoffs next week.
