KEYSER, W.Va. — Keyser scored eight runs in the third inning, leading to a 9-1 five-inning win over Moorefield on Wednesday.
The Golden Tornado (12-3) hit two home runs in the frame.
Bibs Felton sent a two-run blast to center field three batters in.
Brianna O’Reilly took an 0-2 pitch and blasted a grand slam to center.
Keyser recorded six hits and two walks in the frame and went from leading 3-0 after Felton’s homer to 9-0 at the end of the inning.
Felton and Suzy Cosenza each had a pair of hits.
Leighton Johnson earned the win with five frames of one-run ball, allowing two hits and two walks with six strikeouts.
Kerigan Bergdall hit a solo home run in the top of the fourth for the Yellow Jackets (6-9).
Annie Barr took the loss and was charged with nine runs (two earned) on eight hits and four walks with a strikeout.
The teams will have rematch at Moorefield on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
The Yellow Jackets host the Bub Riggleman Tournament beginning on Friday.
Moorefield plays North Marion at noon and Greenbrier West at 4 p.m.
No. 5 Fort Hill 19, Clear Spring 1
CLEAR SPRING — Fort Hill scored in all five innings, including a nine-spot in the fifth to run-rule Clear Spring on Wednesday.
The Sentinels (8-4) opened the top of the fifth with eight consecutive batters reaching base.
Fort Hill combined for six hits and four walks in the frame.
Haley Metz led the Sentinels going 4 for 5 with three RBIs.
Taylor Wiseman and Alina Benson each had three hits while Summer Welsh, Tatum Bishop and Brynnan Wigger had two.
Metz got the win in four innings, allowing an unearned run on two hits and a walk with four punch outs.
Fort Hill played at No. 3 Northern (6-4) on Thursday.
Southern 15, East Hardy 3
BAKER, W.Va. — Adeline Wilson finished 5 for 5 with six RBIs, leading Southern to a rout of East Hardy on Wednesday.
The Maryland Eastern-Shore commit hit two doubles, two triples and a home run for the Rams (5-6).
Wilson’s dinger came in the top of the fifth on a two-run shot to right.
She pitched four innings, allowing three runs on three hits and a walk with four strikeouts.
Halee Bruckey went three shutout frames, allowing a hit and a walk with seven punch outs.
Bruckey also finished 3 for 4 with a double and a triple.
In the top of the seventh, Southern’s first six batters reached base.
The Rams recorded three hits and two walks in the frame, scoring off an Emelee Parks single and Wilson two-run double.
Parks also hit a home run, sending a solo shot to center in the third.
The Cougars (6-5) scored all three of its runs in the fourth off a Paylynn Rexrode double and Alexis Baker single.
East Hardy is at Tucker County on Friday at 6 p.m.
Southern hosts Mountain Ridge (4-7) on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
Martinsburg 20-7, Hampshire 3-3
ROMNEY, W.Va. — Martinsburg out-scored Hampshire 27-6 on Wednesday.
In game two, the Trojans (0-14) out-hit the Bulldogs 12-10, but committed four errors.
Kaitlyn Ferguson led Hampshire going 3 for 4 with two RBIs.
Erica Call took the loss, allowing three earned runs on 10 hits and five walks with six strikeouts.
In the opener, Martinsburg scored 11 runs in the third inning including a two-run home run from Kamarrah Dozier.
The Trojans host Moorefield on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
