KEYSER, W.Va. — Liam Buck and Eston Powell combined for a five-inning no-hitter in a 14-3 romp of Keyser on Tuesday.
Buck threw the first three innings, and Powell came out of the bullpen for the final two.
Keyser (1-1) was able to score three times due to nine walks and an Allegany error.
Allegany (2-0), which racked up 14 hits, scored four runs in the second inning, six in the fourth and three in the fifth.
Buck went 3 for 4 with three RBIs, Daulton Harper was 3 for 4 with a double, Kohen Madden tripled and drove in three runs, and Cole Ricker and Dylan Irons were both 2 for 3.
Allegany (1-0 Western Maryland Athletic Conference) hosts Southern (2-0, 1-0 WestMAC) on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
Keyser welcomes Mineral County rival and top-ranked Frankfort (1-1) on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
Hampshire 3, Moorefield 0
MOOREFIELD, W.Va. — Hampshire’s pitching limited Moorefield to a one-hit shutout in a victory Tuesday.
Ayden Crabtree tossed five shutout innings of one-hit ball, fanning four and walking three, and Channing Wilt threw two scoreless no-hit innings in relief.
It was a 0-0 game until Hampshire (1-1) scored twice in the fifth thanks to a Yellow Jacket error on an Adam Riggleman ground ball that plated a pair.
A Riggleman RBI single in the seventh tacked on an insurance run.
Brayden Hott and Mason Slade had two-hit games for Hampshire. Slade scored twice.
Moorefield’s Oliver Crites tallied the team’s lone hit, a single.
Blake Snyder took the loss for Moorefield (1-1) despite five solid innings of work. He allowed two unearned runs on three hits with three strikeouts to no walks.
Hampshire heads to Hedgesville on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Moorefield is at Musselman on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
