BAKER, W.Va. — Uriah Cutter homered and Jacob Nething tallied five RBIs, and top-ranked Frankfort outslugged No. 3 East Hardy, 20-8, on Friday.
The Falcons improved to 3-1 with the victory, their third straight. It was East Hardy’s first game.
Nething was 2 for 4 with five RBIs and two runs scored, Lanson Orndorf went 2 for 3 with a double and three runs, Cutter was 2 for 5 with two RBIs and four runs, Blake Jacobs had three RBIs and scored four times, Jaxon Hare had three RBIs and Cam Sell drove in two runs.
Rhett Sensabaugh was the winning pitcher, surrendering six runs (four earned) in four innings. Shayne Sisler was dealt the loss for East Hardy.
Leading the Cougars offensively were Garrett VanMeter (2 for 2, double, two RBIs, two runs scored), Evan Hamilton (three singles, two runs) and Levi Price (two singles).
Frankfort is at Spring Mills on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
East Hardy hosts Musselman on Saturday at 2 p.m.
Petersburg 3, Cameron 0
PETERSBURG, W.Va. — Clay Arbaugh and Peyton Tingler combined for a two-hit shutout to lead Petersburg past Cameron on Friday.
The Vikings (4-0) plated a run in each the second, fourth and sixth innings.
Arbaugh earned the win, holding Cameron scoreless on two hits in five innings of work, striking out five and walking one. Tingler threw two scoreless innings of no-hit ball, fanning four, for the save.
Kason Angel took the loss for Cameron after allowing three runs (two earned) on two hits in 5 2/3 innings. Angel struck out eight but issued eight walks.
Mathew McDonald doubled for the Vikings.
Petersburg hosts Musselman on Monday at 6:30 p.m.
