DANVILLE — Calvin Marshall had a game-high 28 points as the Henry Ford Hawks advanced in the consolation bracket of the NJCAA Division II National Tournament with an 86-73 victory over the Des Moines Area Bears.
The Hawks (25-8) also got 17 points from Davon Smith-Johnson and Shemarion Hardy contributed 16 in the winning effort. Amari Allen just missed a double-double as he had a team-high 10 rebounds to go along with 9 points.
The Bears, who were seeded fifth, end their season on a three-game losing streak. Dylan Omweno and Andrew Austin shared game-high scoring honors for DMACC with 17 points each, while De’Sshon Fisher had a double-double of 16 points and 12 rebounds.
Henry Ford advances to play Johnson County in a consolation bracket semifinal on Friday.
