THOMASVILLE- The Thomas University women’s basketball team (3-10, 1-4 SSAC) outscored the Mighty Banyans of New College of Florida (5-8, 0-0) by a large margin of 74-29 on Tuesday afternoon. Each Night Hawk who entered the contest produced points for Thomas.
In the first quarter of play, the Night Hawks’ defense would hold the Mighty Banyans to just one point. In addition, the Night Hawks would showcase stellar shooting in the first quarter. As a team, the Night Hawks shot 50% from behind the arc, and 45% from the field. Entering the second quarter, Thomas would lead the Mighty Banyans 23-1. In the second period, Thomas would continue to apply pressure on the Mighty Banyans’ defense. The Night Hawks would outscore the Mighty Banyans 9-14 in the second quarter. Heading into the break, Thomas would lead 37-10.
After the break, the Night Hawks would continue to showcase stellar offense. They would produce twenty-one points compared to the Mighty Banyans’ eight. To begin the final period of play, Thomas would lead 58-18. In the fourth quarter, Thomas would outscore the Mighty Banyans 16-11. At the end of regulation, the Night Hawks would earn the victory, 74-29.
Destiny Hill would provide the Night Hawks with 14 points, 4 steals, and 5 rebounds. Sierra Bell would add 14 points and 4 assists. Ta’Nija Watson would produce 8 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists. Dejah Wilson and Jasmyn Studamire would lead all Night Hawks in rebounds by grabbing 8 a piece.
The Night Hawks will be back in action on December, 30th to take on Life University in a SSAC conference game. Tip-off is for 12:00 PM in Marietta, Ga.
