The Niagara Regional Theatre Guild, formerly the Niagara Falls Little Theatre, has announced its 102nd season of shows.
NRTG opens the season later this month with “On the Town.” A classic musical featuring music by Leonard
Bernstein, “On the Town” follows the adventures of three sailors on a one-day shore leave in New York City.
The second show “Holiday Inn” comes in November and is a new musical featuring the music of Irving Berlin. After Jim leaves the bright lights of show business behind to settle down on a farm in Connecticut, he quickly discovers that life isn’t the same without a bit of song and dance. His luck takes a spectacular turn when Linda, a spirited schoolteacher with talent to spare, walks into his life.
The third show “The Importance of Being Earnest” hits the stage in January and February. It’s a classic Oscar Wilde satire, friends Jack and Algernon lead double lives to escape undesirable social obligations, but their tangled web of deception quickly devolves into a series of fictional friends, mistaken identities … and plenty of witty dialogue.
“The Mousetrap” is scheduled for March and is a murder mystery. In this timeless whodunnit story, seven strangers find themselves stranded in a guest house during a blizzard. One is probably a murderer: can you figure out who it is before the inspector does? This Agatha Christie play is the longest-running play in the world!
“Into the Woods” is set for May. This Stephen Sondheim masterpiece follows some of your favorite classic fairytale characters as their paths intertwine on a quest to make their wishes come true. Join Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack (of Beanstalk fame), and Rapunzel (among others) on a journey that will
challenge all of our notions of “Happily Ever After.”
At each show’s opening night, patrons can get to meet cast members while enjoying treats at the end of the show. All shows will be presented at NRTG’s home at the Ellicott Creek Playhouse, 550 Ellicott Creek Road, Suite A, Tonawanda.
