Niagara Gospel Mission once again served as a hub of compassion and community care, distributing more than 1,650 meals to individuals and families in need across Niagara Falls, the Town of Niagara, and the City of North Tonawanda.
On Tuesday and Thursday morning, the mission was alive with activity as staff and volunteers worked together to prepare and deliver more than 1,650 pre packaged Christmas meals. More than 300 volunteers participated in the annual Feed the Falls outreach, serving in a variety of roles to ensure the effort ran smoothly.
Preparations began Tuesday evening as volunteers assembled bags of cookies, rolls, and packaged cranberry sauce. Early on Christmas morning, beginning at 7 a.m., volunteers returned to warm turkeys, corn, gravy, stuffing, and mashed potatoes before meals were finalized. Another group of volunteers then delivered meals directly to families who had called ahead requesting assistance.
In addition to serving local residents, Niagara Gospel Mission also prepared individual meals for members of the Niagara Falls Police Department, Niagara Falls Fire Department, and security forces at the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station, honoring those who were on duty and away from their families on Christmas Day while keeping the community safe.
“We are incredibly grateful for the continued success of this outreach, from Thanksgiving through Christmas,” said Rev. John Cooper, executive director of Niagara Gospel Mission. “Our hope is to remain a consistent beacon of hope to the people of Niagara Falls.”
For staff, volunteers, and residents alike, the effort serves as a powerful reminder that compassion, faith, and community partnership can make a meaningful difference in the lives of others, Cooper said.
