Niagara Falls police say speed was a factor in a fatal crash involving a motorcycle and SUV at Niagara Falls Boulevard and Tuscarora Road on Saturday afternoon.
The crash occurred about 4:30 p.m. A 2015 Honda CBR 1000 motorcycle operated by a 31-year-old Falls man was heading east on the Boulevard when it struck the passenger side of a 2011 Dodge Journey that was making a left turn onto Tuscarora Road from the westbound lane of the Boulevard.
A Falls police officer witnessed the crash and reported that the motorcyclist was traveling at an unsafe speed at the time of the collision.
The 31-year-old later died from his injuries at Erie County Medical Center.
The driver of the Dodge remained on scene and cooperated with the crash investigators. The investigation is ongoing, but at this time, police said no charges are expected to be filed.
