Niagara Falls police are investigating the city’s first homicide of 2026.
Patrol officers were called to the Niagara Towers apartment complex just after 11 a.m. Monday to check the welfare of a resident.
The first officers on the scene reported finding the body of a woman who was deceased.
Criminal Investigation Division (CID) and Crime Scene Unit (CSU) detectives also responded to the crime scene. CSU detectives were later seen removing bags of evidence at around mid-afternoon.
Law enforcement sources said the victim, a resident of Niagara Towers, appeared to be between 30 and 40 years old and had been deceased for “some time.”
No information on the woman’s cause of death or a possible motive was immediately available.
Falls police have not publicly commented on the homicide investigation nor have representatives of the city’s private PR firm, e3communications.
