Two nights after responding to a vacant house fire on 8th Street, Niagara Falls firefighters were called to a fire at a neighboring home.
About 3:10 a.m. Tuesday, emergency crews were dispatched to 558 8th Street for reports of a fire. Arriving police officers rushed to the burning home and made contact with a 69-year-old resident who escaped the smoke and flames uninjured through a side door.
When firefighters arrived on scene the front of the house was engulfed in flames. The fire spread into the front portion of the residence. In addition to the house, two vehicles parked in a driveway were damaged by fire and a house next door sustained heat damage to its siding.
Investigators are now looking for the cause of the fire.
The house is located next to a vacant property at 562 8th Street, which firefighters responded to a structure fire at just two nights ago. The cause of that fire also remains under investigation.
