The Niagara County Department of Employment and Training will host a career fair from noon to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Kenan Center Arena in Lockport for those seeking employment.
Don Jablonksi, director of employment and training, said more than 70 companies have signed up to participate, and his office sent more than 300 invitations to county residents who lost their job at the now-closed Sumitomo Rubber Plant.
“January and February are often considered great months to seek employment as many companies have new hiring budgets taking effect, which is why we have so many organizations taking part in this event,” Jablonski said. “There are job opportunities across all different sectors and at all levels of skill and experience.”
Jablonski emphasized that job seekers should not worry about a lack of qualifications or experience as many employers provide “significant” training. Also, the county’s WorkSourceOne team will be present to provide job seekers with services such as resume writing and interview prep.
