Maggie Eaton’s photograph “Purple Afterglow” was judged Best of Show in the Niagara Arts Guild’s 75th anniversary art show at the Niagara History Center.
Artist Marie Prince of Williamsville judged the exhibit. Of Eaton’s photograph, Prince determined its compelling composition and colors made it a standout.
Other award winners are:
• Manning McCandlish, second place for the watercolor “It’s Lovely in the Woods Now.”
• Phil Eaton, third place for the oil painting “Splat.”
Merit awards were earned by Beth Fifield-Crane for her glass sculpture “Wild Horses,” Peggy A. Taylor for her basswood carving “Imagine the Impossibilities” and Lynn Lomanto for the watercolor and acrylic portrait “St. Mary’s”.
The admission-free show and sale at the Niagara History Center, 215 Niagara St., continues Monday through Saturday until Dec. 1.
The Niagara Arts Guild was established in 1948.
