Niagara received commitments from a pair of Division II forwards in the transfer portal.
Justin Hawkins, a 6-foot-7 forward from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia and Kabeya Tshibangu, a 6-9 forward from Northwestern Oklahoma State, are headed to Monteagle Ridge.
In three seasons for Jefferson, Hawkins averaged 8.1 points and 3.7 rebounds per game. He made a big jump last season, going from 4.2 points and 2.6 rebounds per game to 16.2 points and 6.5 rebounds.
Hawkins shot 50% from the field and hit 38 3-pointers at 35.8% clip, while also shooting 81.2% from the free-throw line. He had eight 20-point games as Jefferson finished 16-13.
Tshibangu started his career at Emporia State, redshirting as a freshman and playing 11 games in 2022-23. He spent the last two seasons at Northwestern Oklahoma State, averaging 5.1 points and 5.6 rebounds per game on 66.1% shooting.
Despite being 190 pounds, Tshibangu spent his time in the post, blocking one shot per game last season. His points declined from 5.6 to 4.6 last season, but his rebounds increased from 4.7 to 6.5 and 61% were offensive boards.
Niagara lost Jaedan Marshall, Josiah Davis, Damondre McKnight, Jahari Williamson, James Henderson Jr. and Zion Russell to the transfer portal. Marshall signed with LaSalle.
The Purple Eagles must replace roughly 70% of their scoring from last season after finishing 11-20.
