Julia Nguyen-Goulart has announced she is vying for the position of chief magistrate judge in Whitfield County.
Nguyet-Goulart said, in a press release, she has “a strong educational background in criminology and sociology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte,” but did not list degrees or certifications.
She has lived in Whitfield County since 2010.
Nguyen-Goulart said, in the prepared statement, “My journey in the realm of criminal justice began as a Georgia state felony probation officer. During my tenure, I distinguished myself as the court captain for the Conasauga Judicial Circuit, a field officer.” She added, “My commitment to mental health awareness led to my certification to teach and train other officers in Critical Incident training. I was honored with two Gold Commissioner Awards — one for Court Services and another for Community Service.”
She said she owns two businesses, Express Bail Bonding and Absolutely Clean.
She said in the statement that if she is elected that she and her family will no longer own or be associated with any bail bonding company in Georgia.
According to the candidate, she is also a licensed real estate agent and holds a Property and Casualty Insurance License.
She says she actively supports various charitable events such as Secret Santa in Varnell, and area teams such as the Dalton High color guard and is a volunteer board member for Roman Open Charities, which raises money for various charities in Whitfield and Murray counties.
Nguyen-Goulart said in the press release, “My vision for the magistrate office is centered on integrity, honesty and an unwavering commitment to justice. I pledge to be an effective, principled, dedicated judge, prioritizing the law above personal feelings or obligations. I have been recognized by my peers as fair, reasonable and respectable.
“I aim to extend these qualities to all citizens of Whitfield County. With a proven track record of hard work and positive contributions to the community, my goal is to maintain the right balance of justice, ensuring the safety and protection of Whitfield County.”
She describes herself as “a steadfast defender of our community’s safety and security.”
She said she will fight for transparency, support pay reform and be a leader that “recognizes the value in all.”
She said she supports term limits.
Nguyen-Goulart said in the press release, “Together, let us stand firm in our resolve to build a safer, stronger Whitfield County — for ourselves, for our children and for generations to come. Vote ‘No’ to NYC (New York City), Chicago and California practices by voting for Julia Nguyen-Goulart.”
