GEORGETOWN — The Friends of the Georgetown Peabody Library are hosting author Alena Dillon on Wednesday, Nov. 29, at 6:30 p.m. for an author talk and book signing. Refreshments will be served.
Dillon is the author of “Mercy House,” a Library Journal Best Book of 2020, “The Happiest Girl in the World,” a Good Morning America pick, “My Body Is A Big Fat Temple,” a memoir of pregnancy and early parenting, and “Eyes Turned Skyward,” a dual timeline World War II novel about the Women Airforce Service pilots. Dillon’s novels have been optioned for television, and her shorter work has appeared in publications including The Daily Beast, LitHub, River Teeth, Slice Magazine, The Rumpus, and Bustle.
She teaches creative writing and lives on the North Shore of Boston with her husband, children and black lab.

The Georgetown Peabody Library is exhibiting the work of artist Mauren DeSisto’s during November. There will be a reception on Monday, Nov. 27, at 6:30 p.m. All are welcome to attend.
A lifelong Methuen resident, DeSisto studied with Bill Swank of Salem, N.H., and attended Mass. College of Art in Boston earning a bachelor’s degree in illustration and an associate’s degree in commercial art at Chamberlayne Junior College of Boston. She is a board member of the Greater Haverhill Art Association. Two of her paintings of historic Methuen are in Methuen’s Enterprise Bank’s permanent collection.
