NEWBURYPORT — The Newburyport Literary Festival will host two fundraisers this fall in advance of its 21st festival scheduled for April 24-26.
USA Today best-selling author Meg Mitchell Moore will be in conversation with novelist Holly Robinson on Thursday, Oct. 23, at 6 p.m. at The Joy Nest, 50 Water St., Newburyport. On Saturday, Oct. 25, at 4 p.m., historian Ghlee Woodworth will lead a one-hour tour of the Old Hill Burying Ground, 25 Greenleaf St., Newburyport.
Mitchell Moore will be discussing her latest novel “Mansion Beach.” Goodreads calls “The Great Gatsby”–inspired book a “sparkling new novel following a young woman entwined in the opulent lives of her neighbors on Block Island, set against a backdrop of scandal, secrets, and a not-so-subtle love triangle.”
Mitchell Moore is the national bestselling author of nine novels and a proud member of the festival’s programming committee and board of directors. She is not a Newburyport native, but she likes to pretend she is, as she’s lived in Newburyport longer than she’s ever lived anywhere else. She enjoys all the North Shore has to offer with her husband, three daughters, and two golden retrievers. Robinson is a novelist, journalist, and ghostwriter. Under her own name, she has published a memoir and five novels, and as a ghostwriter, she has published fourteen works of nonfiction.
Cost: $30, or $60 including a copy of “Mansion Beach.” The event includes a cash bar and light snacks, and Mitchell Moore will be available to sign books. Purchase tickets at newburyportliteraryfestival.org/book-club-the-joy-nest.
In this respectful one-hour tour in honor of the 250th anniversary of the Road to the American Revolution, NLF steering committee member, historian, and 12th-generation Newburyporter Ghlee Woodworth will lead a one-hour walk of the Old Hill Burying Ground in Newburyport. This rain-or-shine tour will visit graves of American Revolutionary soldiers and other locals, and Woodworth will share excerpts from their diaries and writings.
Cost: $25. Purchase tickets at newburyportliteraryfestival.org/product/historical-cemetery-walk-with-ghlee-woodworth.
All sales are final and all proceeds benefit the Newburyport Literary Festival.
