NEWBURYPORT — The Newburyport Lions Club, committed to enhancing the lives of community members, recently facilitated the donation of an Optelec HD magnifier visual aid to Lorraine Greco.
This gift is designed to improve Greco’s quality of life by equipping her with the necessary tools to overcome visual challenges and regain her independence. Thanks to the Mass Visual Aid Foundation, she has regained the ability to read.
The Optelec HD magnifier features a high-definition camera and adjustable magnification levels, allowing users to read text, view photographs, and read written materials with clarity. While the base model typically costs more than $2,700, it is provided to Greco on loan at no cost, requiring only a basic eye evaluation from an eye doctor to apply.
“We are thrilled to present this invaluable gift to Lorraine,” Newburyport Lions Club member Bob Lafrance said. “Our mission improve the lives of those in need. This donation perfectly aligns with our vision, empowering individuals to navigate their daily routines and regain their independence. We hope it inspires others facing similar challenges.”
