MANKATO — A New Ulm man is facing multiple felony drug charges following his arrest Saturday near Jackson Street Park in Mankato.
Caiden Jonah Kelly, 23, has been charged in Blue Earth County District Court with cocaine sale and possession within proximity of a public park.
An officer with the Mankato Department of Public Safety identified Kelly early that morning exiting a downtown business located within 300 feet of Jackson Street Park, according to the criminal complaint. He was aware of an active warrant for Kelly’s arrest and had prior contact with him on two occasions in the same area in August and September, including one incident involving suspected cocaine distribution.
When officers attempted to arrest Kelly, he tried to flee but was taken into custody and a search of a bag he was carrying revealed three clear baggies containing a white powder, according to the complaint. The powder later tested positive for cocaine. Two of the bags each weighed 0.77 grams, while the third contained 0.66 grams.
Kelly was taken to detox.
