EXETER — The Seacoast Artist Association in Exeter presents their new monthly theme show, “In Plein Sight” through May 24. The public is invited to see how member artists interpret the theme and all art is for sale.
The theme changes every month and artists are invited to submit to these monthly theme shows. Rules and forms are at www.seacoastartist.org.
The reception for the theme show is from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 9, when the gallery will serve wine and refreshments and host the legendary seacoast swing, rock, R&B duo, Ben Baldwin and Kent Allyn, founding members of Ben Baldwin and the Big Note.
Both have been sharing the rich heritage of popular American music for over 25 years. The public is invited, donations are appreciated and all gallery artwork is for sale during the reception.
Beginning on Saturday, May 3 and running for three consecutive weekends, the Seacoast Artists Association presents their 2025 Annual Members Show, “Primavera: The Art of Spring.”
The show is taking place on the second floor of the Exeter Town Hall located at 10 Front St. and is open to the public from noon to 4 p.m. May 3, May 4, May 10, May 11, and May 17 and May 18.
The Exeter Art Walk also takes place during the first weekend, from noon to 4 p.m. May 3 and May 4, with 11 Exeter art galleries and studios opening their doors and showcasing new artwork. Last year’s walk was hugely successful and maps are available throughout the town.
As part of the Second Sunday series of artist presentations and demos, the gallery will host painter Pamela duLong Williams, “First Impressions” from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, May 18.
Her Sunday demonstration will begin with developing the best composition for her idea while laying out the drawing and palette. She will then demonstrate how to “knock-in” the painting while sharing her thought process as she proceeds to execute the painting, making decisions that strengthen her first impression.
The Seacoast Artist Association is located in historic downtown Exeter on 130 Water St. Parking is free. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday.
