This school year brings exciting growth and innovation to North Cumberland Elementary (NCE) as students are welcomed into brand-new STEAM opportunities designed to spark creativity, curiosity and hands-on learning.
One of the additions is the new Human Service program, complete with two state-of-the-art kitchens. These spaces provide students with the opportunity to learn valuable life skills, such as cooking, nutrition and teamwork, all while exploring how science, math and creativity come together in the kitchen.
In addition, NCE is proud to unveil its new greenhouse, which now features a FarmBot, an advanced gardening robot that will allow students to plant, water and monitor crops with the help of technology. This unique blend of agriculture and STEAM education offers students a firsthand look at how science and innovation are shaping the future of farming.
Beyond the classroom, students will also have opportunities to connect, explore and grow through new clubs being offered this year. This year, Watts Up Patriots will be available for PreK– third-grade students, while Lego League will launch for those in third through fifth grade.
Musical Theater is expanding to include Kindergarten through fifth grade, and FCCLA will be newly chartered for NCE’s middle school students. These clubs are designed to give students outlets for their interests, encourage leadership, and build community engagement.
Together, these exciting additions show NCE’s commitment to preparing students for the future by giving them the tools to explore Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math in creative and meaningful ways.
“North Cumberland Elementary is truly living up to its mission of helping students grow, thrive and succeed, one innovative step at a time,” said North Cumberland Elementary. “We are igniting the imagination at NCE!”
