MANKATO — A New Richland woman was injured in a crash at the intersection of Highway 22 and Bassett Drive in Mankato Thursday afternoon.
Kayla Marie Root, 73, was a passenger in a 2026 Buick Enclave, being driven east on Bassett Drive by Burchard Bailey Root, 72, of New Richland. The Buick and a 2027 Ford F550 — driven north on Highway 22 by Shane Christopher Clement, 55, of Mankato — collided at 3:36 p.m., according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Kayla Root was taken to the Mankato hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Burchard Root, Clement and a passenger in Clement’s Ford — Tina Marie Obrien, 63, of Mankato — were uninjured. It’s unknown if Clement was wearing a seat belt, but the other three were belted.
