Nearly 200 moms and their little and not-so-little boys turned out for magical moments and fun at the third annual Mother and Son Date Night May 2 at Cumberland County Community Complex.
The event hosted by Cumberland County Habitat for Humanity was DJ’d by 5 Diamond Entertainment, who also brought a photo booth with props for instant photos of the guests. But that was only the beginning of the excitement for the moms and sons.
Cumberland County Playhouse had a lively round of sword fighting, Shoney’s of Knoxville provided prizes for trivia along with their mascot, Shoney Bear, and Hwy. 55 brought popcorn and cotton candy.
Fairfield Glade Fire Department was on hand and brought one of their fire engines for the kids to examine and take photos with, despite the rain.
There was also an arcade-style basketball set up by Habitat and multiple rounds of limbo and musical chairs.
Throughout the night donated gifts were given as door prizes including a gift set from Buff City Soap in Cookeville, Pampered Chef, a facial from Anew You, and an inflatable kayak from the Habitat ReStore, as well as Playhouse tickets and gift cards to Shoney’s.
Food was provided and sponsored by Willow Catering. Swag bags for the moms were also provided due to a generous donation of products from Naturally Sassy Soaps.
Sponsors Miller Heating and Air Conditioning, Faith Worship Center, East Tennessee Dodge, and Fairfield Homes and Glade Realty made the event possible.
