The 2024 NCCC Film and Animation Festival is calling for submissions from filmmakers for this year’s festival, taking place on May 4 on the Sanborn campus.
The festival features an international film competition, with cash prizes for best film in a variety of categories including: Drama, Comedy, Animation, Documentary, Music Video, Horror and Experimental. Submissions, due by April 1, can be made to: https://filmfreeway.com/NCCCFILMFESTIVAL.
The NCCC Film and Animation Festival awards more than $1,700 in prizes, including three special “716” awards that go to the best Western New York high school student film, best college student film and best overall film selected by festival attendees.
NCCC will award two $2,000 scholarships: one for best high school student film and one for best high school student animation. Students are not required to create new work for the contest, any video created within the past three years is eligible.
The NCCC Film and Animation Festival began in 1998. It brings together filmmakers, animators and film and video enthusiasts from across Western New York and beyond. Attendees are able to view screenings of local and international films, attend instructional workshops and much more. Special guest at this year’s festival is Rick Catizone, an animator and special effects artist with over 50 years’ experience in the industry. His feature film animation credits include “Creepshow,” “Creepshow 2,” “Evil Dead 2,” “Dungeons and Dragons” and the original “Night of the Living Dead,” directed by George Romero. This year’s keynote speaker is Chad Ridgely, director, producer, writer and stand-up comedian.
