INDIANAPOLIS — The NCAA announced on Friday that women’s wrestling will be the 91st championship sport across all three divisions.
Approved at the Association’s annual convention this week in Nashville, Tennessee, women’s wrestling now advances from the NCAA Emerging Sports for Women program to a national collegiate championship.
All three divisions compete against each other.
Frostburg State has had a women’s wrestling team for two seasons.
Frostburg has put their name on the map in just two seasons, currently holding a 10-1 record in the 2024-25 season, while also having competed in two opens and two tournaments.
The Bobcats have been ranked first in Region 4 of the National Collegiate Women’s Wrestling Championships (NCWWC) and in the top 25 of the national rankings.
Sophomore Jada Fowler was ranked as high as seventh in the national rankings while junior Solana Mottola earned a No. 9 ranking.
Sophomore Jocelyn Cacek was named NCCA Women’s Wrestler of the Month for Region 4, after going 16-3, collecting multiple wins over ranked opponents.
