Registrations for the 30th annual Nancy Price Memorial Run are underway with the race date set for May 10. While the race has historically been managed by Youngstown Recreation, this year a new nonprofit is heading up the charge. Led by Christine Rath, the Friends of Youngstown has a mission to revitalize, improve, and ensure long term sustainability of the Village of Youngstown.
The race honors Nancy Price, the former recreation director who succumbed to cancer in 1994, and is open to participants age 14 and under, up to seniors ages 75 and older. Proceeds from the event go toward the annual Nancy & Vicki Price Memorial Scholarships, which are given out to graduates from the area who possess the values Nancy held and who are active in the community.
The 5k run/walk will start at 6:30 p.m. and finish in front of the Youngstown Volunteer Fire Hall in the Village of Youngstown and features a scenic course through the Village of Youngstown and beautiful Fort Niagara State Park.
The 1/2 Mile Kids Fun Run starts at Veteran’s Park and will take place at 6 p.m.
Online registration is open and continues right to the start of the race on May 10. Race categories include 14 and under; 15-19; 20-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-69; 70-74; and 75 and older. The race is organized by Race Management Solutions.
