The area high school swim teams are back in the pool for the fall, and there could be major things brewing.
Yes, one of the region’s all-time legends, Andover’s Vivian Moulson, has moved on, but the bulk of the 2025 Eagle-Tribune All-Star Team is back and better than ever.
“We are excited to come off of a fast season last year. Just trying to get better every day,” said Haverhill coach Sean Glasheen, who welcomes back the heart of a team that went 9-0 a year ago.
Ali Story is back after winning the D-1 state 100 freestyle title as a freshman. Classmate Georgia Abrams equaled that feat in the 50 free and added a second in the 100 butterfly.
Junior Julia Plassmann was the MVC Diver of the Year as a sophomore, while Mari Tucker, Emily Lenihan and Kathryn Papageorgiou return off first-time all-conference seasons.
Andover will again be powered by Emi Hukkanen, a two-time all-scholastic and reigning D-1 state 500 freestyle champ.
Veteran Ethan Corthell is back to lead the Methuen/Tewksbury co-op team as a four-time state champion over his storied career.
Kyle Chiu and Jesse Torres are worth watching, while M/T should also be solid in the diving.
“We will need some of our young newcomers to really step up. Also, some of our returnees are going to need to fill larger roles and expand their repertoires,” said coach Jason Smith, whose crew went 6-3 a year ago.
Captains Gabby Del Gaizo and Camila Diaz will lead Central Catholic into the season.
“We are excited to have our new talent join our veterans. “Looking forward to an exciting season,” said coach Heather Rousseau.
Senior Noor Abdelal is a defending D-2 state champ for the North Andover High swimmers, who are deep in numbers and ready for a solid year. Sophomore Ryan Wolfe was also a first-team all-conference selection last fall.
“(North Andover) has a unique blend of veteran leadership and fresh-faced rookies who bring a lot of energy to the team,” said coach Christophe Poirier.
