Music in the air, scarecrows around town, pioneer stories coming to life, and entertainment from morning until night. Historic Granville is the place to be Oct. 2-3 for a fall weekend packed with music, theatre, art, food and old-fashioned fun.
Step back in time for an unforgettable evening at Pioneer Village during Journey to the Promised Land Outdoor Dinner Theatre.
Follow a pioneer family as they journey to Tennessee’s Upper Cumberland region and settle in historic Granville. This original production brings Granville’s early settlers to life with history, humor, music, and the inspiring hardships and triumphs of pioneer life.
Dinner is served at 5:30 p.m. daily, followed by a live performance under the stars. Tickets are $37 per person; reservations are required and may be made at www.granvilletn.com or by calling 931-653-4151.
Journey to the Promised Land was written by former Granville resident Ogeal Halfacre Webster, who recently celebrated her 100th birthday. Her story provides a memorable connection between Granville’s past and the generations preserving and sharing that history today.
Historic Granville becomes one big stage from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Oct. 3, with music and entertainment throughout town. Visitors can enjoy everything from classic country, gospel and barbershop harmony to big band, blues, choral music and dance.
The entertainment lineup features the Tennessee Dance Alliance, Randy Harris and the Victors, Front Row Barbershop Quartet, rising country artist Rylee Barry, The Jazz Alliance Big Band, The Blues Brokers, and the Smith County Men’s Chorus.
The fall festival also features the Quilt Festival, Tennessee Spirits Tasting and Cornbread Contest. It also serves as the kick-off for Granville’s monthlong Scarecrow Festival, when the town boasts more scarecrows than residents.
The month-long Artisans Festival begins as well, with the Granville Artisans Workshop and Gallery featuring a special art show presented by the Roaring River Arts Alliance.
