A LaGrange man charged with murder for the death of a woman in Whitfield County on Monday is scheduled for a bond hearing before Superior Court Judge Scott Minter on Feb. 16, according to District Attorney Ben Kenemer.
Brian Keith Moree, 48, was booked into the Whitfield County jail Tuesday for murder (non-family, weapon).
The victim was Adrina Sheree Long, 28, of 714 Richardson Road.
An incident report from the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office said that at about 9:45 p.m. Whitfield County 911 received a call about a woman who was stabbed at 714 Richardson Road. A deputy arrived about 15 minutes later and saw a man “exiting the front door of this address.”
The man, who lived there, said the woman was dead. A deputy entered the home and the man showed him where the woman was.
The deputy “observed a large knife sticking out of the female’s chest.”
The deputy checked her pulse and could not find one. The deputy removed the man from the home, checked to make sure no one else was inside and secured it for detectives.
The sheriff’s office issued a “be on the lookout” alert for Moree early Tuesday morning.
Moree was caught four hours after the stabbing, according to a Whitfield County press release.
Moree ran from the scene before deputies arrived, according to the press release. He was captured on Polly Road with the help of several law enforcement and public safety agencies including the Murray County Sheriff’s Office, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the Georgia State Patrol Aviation Unit, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and the Whitfield County Fire Department.
Moree is represented by Latasha Heflin of the Public Defender’s Office. Heflin could not be reached immediately Friday afternoon.
