FROSTBURG — Mountain Ridge plated 15 runs in the first three innings to rout Hancock, 17-3, Saturday in five frames.
The Miners (5-13) trailed 1-0 after Hancock’s first at-bat. They responded with five-spots in each of the next three innings.
Brayden Glass led Mountain Ridge going 2 for 3 with three RBIs, Vance Green hit a three-run homer, John Wood drove in three runs, Ryan Krumpach had two singles and two ribbies, Dane Van Slyke and Carter Clites both singled twice, James McVay drove in a pair, and John Delaney doubled and scored four times.
Green was the winning pitcher, allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits in 4 2/3 frames of work with six strikeouts to one walk.
Hancock’s Bailei Ray tripled, Aden Clingerman doubled and Ethan Hill was the losing pitcher.
Mountain Ridge (2-5 Western Maryland Athletic Conference) goes for the season sweep at Allegany (10-6, 5-2 WestMAC) on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
Allegany can clinch a share of the WestMAC title with Northern with a win.
Keyser 7, Pendleton Co. 4
FRANKLIN, W.Va. — Keyser pushed its winning streak to four games with a comeback victory at Pendleton County on Saturday.
The Golden Tornado (8-12) trailed 3-2 before a two-run fifth inning, and they tacked on three insurance runs in the seventh.
Keyser’s Hunter Harr doubled twice, Landon Tysinger had three singles, and Cam Larkin had two base knocks.
Mikey Mongold got the win on the bump after he allowed three runs (two earned) on two hits in four innings. Larkin allowed a run on two hits in three frames of relief.
Pendleton’s Jaxon Simon doubled. Mason Miller was the losing arm.
Keyser hosts Fort Hill (9-8-1) on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
Clarke Co. 7, No. 5 East Hardy 5
BAKER, W.Va. — No. 5 East Hardy led entering the sixth inning, but Clarke County, Virginia, plated four runs in the frame to come from behind and win on Saturday.
The loss snapped a four-game winning streak by East Hardy (13-6).
Trenton Fox recorded the go-ahead sacrifice fly in the sixth, and Logan Davis tacked on two insurance runs with a two-out single later in the frame.
Caleb Erickson homered for Clarke County, and Aiden Wagner and Jacob Reichert doubled.
East Hardy was led at the plate by Evan Hamilton and Shayne Sisler, who both doubled.
Fox was the winning pitcher, allowing four runs on six hits in five innings. Gage Dove took the loss for East Hardy.
East Hardy hosts Northern (13-5) on Monday at 6 p.m.
