FROSTBURG — The Mountain Ridge boys and Allegany girls took first place at the Frostburg Invite, and Avery Miller won four events on Thursday night at Mountain Ridge.
The Miners’ boys were led by the first-place efforts of Ethan Deriso, Andrew Ketterman, Zach Haberlei and two winning relay teams.
Deriso won the 200m (23.12), Ketterman the pole vault (9’ 6”), and Haberlein the long jump (21’ 0”). The 4×100 (Eli Cooper, Haberlein, Jake Geary, Jacob Printy) and 4×400 (Will Patterson, Landon Sweitzer, Eli Sibley, Evan DeRiso) relay teams also won their respective events.
Nanjo Levec won three events (110m hurdles, 15.58; high jump, 6’ 2”; triple jump, 44’ 6.5”) and Quinn Sullivan won two (800m, 2:09.10; 1600m, 4:52.50) for Middletown. Fort Hill’s Carter Hess was also a multiple event winner (shot put, 46’ 9.25”; discus, 156’ 10”).
Other individual winners were Landon Sensabugh (400m, 53.59) and Chase Lamb (300m hurdles, 42.94) of Fort Hill; Aidan McCrohan (3200m, 10:59.00) of Middletown; and Logan Glessner (100m, 10.94) of Berlin Brothersvalley.
In the relays, Allegany took the 4×200 (Macello Kitchen, Aidyn McKenzie, David Smith, Jacob Salonish) and 4×800 (Dustin Long, Gabe Browning, Jack Taylor, Cade Crawford).
Mountain Ridge ended up with 163 points for the meet followed by Middletown (137), Fort Hill (124), Allegany (113), Southern (63) and Berlin Brothersvalley (43).
On the girls side, Miller won four events, Brandi Gochenauer won two and Sierra Campbell and Morgan Ruggles each took one to lead the Camper girls to victory.
Miller won the 100m (12.12), 200m (25.50), 400m (57.09), and long jump (17’ 11.75”). Gochenauer took the shot put (35’ 3”) and discus (105’ 4”). Ruggles was victorious in the 800m (2:33.75) and Sierra Campbell was in the triple jump (34’ 8”).
Other individual winners were Sophia Brill of Mountain Ridge (1600m, 5:50.12), Lydia Nelson of Northern (3200m, 11:43.30), Ava Allen of Middletown (100m hurdles, 16.00), Maeleigh Plummer of Fort Hill (high jump, 5’ 2”); and Mikaela Glessner (300m hurdles, 51.35) and Addy Glessner of Berlin Brothersvalley (pole vault, 7’0”).
In the relays, Berlin Brothersvalley won the 4×100 (Lexi Fairman, Mercy Sechler, Lynndee Ickes, Addy Glessner), Southern the 4×200 (Abbi Hersh, Iris Dubansky, Dabielle Brobst, Abigail Lucas), Mountain Ridge the 4×400 (Reese Rizzo, Brill, Emma Michael, Sydney Snyder), and Northern the 4×800 (Nelson, Kaylee Bowser, McKenzie Upole, Abby Nelson)
Allegany finished with 164 points followed by Berlin Brothersvalley (124), Mountain Ridge (106), Middletown (90), Fort Hill (83), Northern (63), and Southern (51).
