BEMIDJI — A flurry of late goals by the Minnesota State women’s hockey team turned a tight game into a 5-1 road victory over Bemidji State University Saturday.
Alexis Paddington led the Mavericks with two goals and an assist. Bella Shipley, JuliAnna Gazdik and Kamryn Van Batavia also scored for MSU, and Whitney Tuttle contributed a pair of assists. Jessie McPherson had 34 saves.
Shots on goal narrowly favored MSU 38-35 in the contest, which was tied after one period. The Mavericks led 2-1 after the second period before pulling away with a trio of goals in the final nine minutes of the game.
MSU will host 8th-ranked St. Cloud State University Friday and Saturday at the civic center.
