MANKATO — Kyreese Willingham scored 20 points and Will Opsahl added 15, including four of five three-pointers, as the Minnesota State men’s basketball team topped Winona State 76-52 Saturday.
Caden Kirkman contributed 11 points and seven rebounds for MSU, which hit on eight of 18 three-point shots in the first half to build a 13-point lead at the intermission. The Mavericks jumped to a 17-1 lead before WSU scored their first field goal nearly six and half minutes into the game.
The Mavericks topped 40% from behind the arc and outrebounded the Warriors 42 to 31 in improving their record to 14-9 (10-5 in the NSIC). Winona dropped to 15-7 (10-6 in conference play.)
MSU hosts Wayne State at Bresnan Arena at 5:30 p.m. Friday.
