SHORT GAP, W.Va. — Mountain Ridge jumped out to an 18-2 lead and didn’t let up to rout Frankfort, 57-21, on Saturday afternoon.
The Miners (10-2) led 34-6 at the half and 50-15 after three quarters. Sydney Snyder scored a game-high 16 points and Reghan Sivic added 14 to join her in double figures. Taylor Lamberson buried a trio of 3-pointers for nine points. Snyder had four treys.
Brooklyn Klavuhn paced Frankfort with seven points, and Jillian Ault and Madi Ruble added six each.
Mountain Ridge is at Bishop Walsh on Wednesday, and Frankfort hosts East Hardy on Wednesday.
No. 5 Petersburg 78 Mtn. Mission 71
FAIRMONT, W.Va. — Despite a 38-point explosion from Mt. Mission standout Ana Chacha, No. 5 Petersburg started fast and held on to bounce back on Saturday at East Fairmont.
The 6-foot Chacha is the No. 2 scorer in Virginia at 26.5 points per game, and she eclipsed that mark with 15 field goals, three 3-pointers, and a 5 for 6 effort at the line.
Millicah Vincent added 24 points; however, the rest of the high-scoring duos teammates added just nine combined points.
Petersburg (8-5) jumped out to a 19-10 first-quarter lead and led 37-28 and 53-51 following the ensuring two frames entering the fourth. In the decider, Nellie Whetzel tallied 12 of her team-high 23 points to help the Vikings hang on.
Abby Alt was second on Petersburg with 20 points, and Sam Colaw added 14 to join the pair in double figures.
Petersburg hosts Hampshire (5-6) on Tuesday night. The last time out for the Trojans, they upset No. 3 Allegany, 50-45, behind 30 points from Izzy Blomquist. More details from that game were not submitted to the Times-News.
Bishop Walsh 36, Turkeyfoot 23
CUMBERLAND — Bishop Walsh led 20-0 after the opening eight minutes to beat Turkeyfoot on Friday night.
Grace Elliott buried three 3-pointers and another 2-point field goal during the first quarter alone, and Brooke Adams scored five points and Autumn Hoppert added four.
Bishop Walsh was held without a field goal during the second quarter but led 25-12 at the half thanks to a 5 for 6 effort at the free-throw line by Hoppert.
The Spartans led 30-18 entering the fourth quarter and the teams played an even fourth as Bishop Walsh held on.
Elliott ended with 15 points and Hoppert scored 14 to account for the BW players in double figures. Maleigha Younkin topped Turkeyfoot with nine points.
Bishop Walsh (4-8) hosts Northern (5-3) on Monday at 6 p.m.
Calvary 39 C. Valley 29
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — Bethany Carrington and Ava Strawderman notched double-doubles to lead Calvary over Cumberland Valley on Friday night.
Carrington ended with 24 points and 11 rebounds, and Strawderman tallied 11 points and 13 rebounds, as the Eagles led 14-2 after the first quarter, 19-12 at the half and 25-18 after three periods. Madie Robinette added five points.
“The girls played solid defense the entire game, limiting Cumberland Valley to 12 first-half points and 29 total points,” Calvary head coach Todd Riggleman said. “Also, we made our free throws down the stretch, converting 13 out of 18 in the fourth quarter.”
Calvary (4-7) hosts Morgantown Christian on Monday at 5 p.m.
