GIRLS BASKETBALL
Ipswich 53, Essex Tech 33: The Tigers picked up their first win behind a 21-point outburst from Lucy Donahue. Ella Stein also scored 17 in the winning efFort.
The Hawks (3-8) were led by Janelle Dalton (8 points) as well as Avery Barteaux (7), Emma Dorgan (6) and Marissa Perez (4).
Hamilton-Wenham 49, Triton 33: Gaby Campbell scored 15 points and the Generals (8-3) used a hot early start (9-2 in the first quarter) to down the Vikings away from home.
WRESTLING
St. John’s Prep wins four, stays unbeaten: The Eagles had 10 different wrestlers win all four of their matches Monday and improved to 23-0 as a team after victories over Saugus/Peabody (66-4), New Bedford (49-18), Josiah Quincy (78-3) and Essex Tech/Masconomet (76-6). Those going 4-0 on the day for St. John’s Prep were Ben Schumacher (113 lbs.), Braedon Goes (120), Ryan Ofilos (132), Jimmy Lally (138), Will LaVallee (144), Ryan DeSouza (150), Jayden D’Ambrosio (157), Vincent Bilotti (175), Marc Pineiro (215), and Alex Bajoras (285).
GIRLS HOCKEY
Peabody 6, Medford 0: Senior captain Yasmine Giacolone had one of the best games of her career with two goals and an assist to power the Tanners (8-1). Junior captain Ava Buckley had a goal with three assists and Erin Dee had a goal and an assist as Peabody scored four in the third period to pull away. Alexa Pepper and Shirley Whitmore also scored, Leah Buckley and Abby McInerney had assists and Alyse Mutti posted her second straight shutout.
Masconomet 2, Wakefield 1: Charlotte Leiss had both goals and the Chieftains (5-5) picked up a much-needed victory to even their record for the season. Senior MacKenzie Cronin had another solid outing in net and defensively Allie LaCava and Tara Thompson played well.
BOYS HOCKEY
Masconomet 3, Lincoln-Sudbury 2: Captain Anthony Cerbone, a defenseman, scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner, to send Masconomet to its ninth win in 11 games. Miles Mireault also scored, Alan Weitzman had two assists, and John Miga, Johnny Mireault and Ben Merrill all had solo assists. Goalie Chris Sacco, another captain, won his eighth game by turning aside 27 shots.
Pentucket 4, Beverly 3: The Panthers (now 4-4-1) fell behind by two goals in the opening 15 minutes and could never catch back up. Connor Wallace, a junior, had a pair of goals for the Orange-and-Black while sophomore Coby Malionek also lit the lamp. Ryan Everett, Bobby Massa, Mikey O’Leary, Jonathan Mezza and Anthony Barror all had assists. Goaltender PJ Redman finished with 18 saves.
Bishop Fenwick 3, King Philip 3 (OT): Captains Anthony Sasso and Joey Marshall scored early goals, as did Joey DeBernardo, to give the Crusaders (2-8-1) an early 3-0 goal lead before the visitors stormed back to earn a point. Freshman goaltender Warren Dubois made 40 saves in the Fenwick cage.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Ipswich 63, Essex Tech 44: Max Chesley scored 15 points and James Norris and Rex Sater each had ten to lead the well-balanced Tigers by the Hawks in the CAL battle. Nick Deleon also had 11 as Ipswich scored 51 of its points in a first half blitz.
Hamilton-Wenham 57, Triton 34: Sophomore Alex Mengoni led four players in double figures with 18 and also added seven assists as the Gens moved 5-4 overall.
SWIMMING
Archbishop Williams 101, Bishop Fenwick 56: Winners for the Crusaders were sophomore Caroline Blatchford (100 fly, 1:09.94) and freshman Amelia Gallant (500 free, 5:39.81).
