GIRLS BASKETBALL
Essex Tech 51, Rockport 23: Thais Dos Santos had a career-high 23 points and also controlled eight rebounds to help the Hawks improve to 4-7. Marissa Perez added nine points for Essex while Mia Martinez scored eight and Nicola Mwaura netted seven.
Central Catholic 49, Bishop Fenwick 40: Junior captain Celia Neilson had 11 points and six assists but the Crusaders (7-4) faltered against one of Division 1’s top teams. Caitlin Boyle, Sienna Mancinelli, and Reese Spurchise all added eight points a piece in the loss.
North Reading 39, Hamilton-Wenham 31: Margot Bryce Morris scored 10 but the Generals (8-4) fell in a defensive battle despite closing to within one possession (34-31) with under a minute remaining. Saska Makogonov chipped in with nine for H-W.
Pentucket 57, Ipswich 8: The hosts jumped out to a 44-5 lead at halftime and never looked back.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Hamilton-Wenham 54, North Reading 38: Alex Menegoni scored 12 of his 16 in the second quarter and the Generals (8-3) won their eighth consecutive game by dropping 26 in that hot shooting 8:00 spurt. Senior AB Labell had 11 points with 10 rebounds and Menegoni totaled six assists.
Ipswich 54, Pentucket 46: Down by 10 late, the Tigers used a full-court trap which led to a 19-4 run and eventually the victory. Vin Winter’s pass to James Norris (18 points, 9 rebounds) gave IHS the lead, 42-41, with two minutes left as the hosts hit their free throws down the stretch and outscored the Panthers, 23-9, in the fourth quarter. Freshman Anderson Pillis had 13 points, 15 rebounds and five steals for the victors while shooting 16 free throws. Winter added 10 points, Trevor Manning had eight and five steals, and Rex Satter contributed five points and five assists.
Rockport 84, Essex Tech 49: The Hawks (now 1-9) were felled by a hail of successful 3-pointers by the host Vikings.
BOYS HOCKEY
Essex Tech 4, Bishop Fenwick 0: Brady Leonard, Anthony Bisenti, Ben Rehal and Jaydan Vargas all had goals while Teagan Moreau turned in his second shutout of the season, making 10 saves to propel the Hawks (10-1-1) to victory on home ice.
Junior Evan Morey turned aside 31 shots in net for the Crusaders (1-10).
Triton 5, Beverly 1: A second period goal by senior Connor Wallace was all the Panthers (5-6-1) could manage in a non-league road defeat. Xander Alexeyev and defenseman Ryan Everett assisted on the play, and senior captain P.J. Redman made 27 saves in net.
GIRLS HOCKEY
Leominster 7, Masconomet 2: Eighth grader Kayleigh LeColst had a goal and an assist and junior Kaeley Forde also had a goal with one helper but the Chieftains (4-8) couldn’t get much else going on the long road trip. Freshman Gabby Chiulli made 38 saves and captain Maddie Kenny had one assist,
MEN’S COLLEGE VOLLEYBALL
MIT 3, Endicott 0: The Gulls were swept by the No. 20 ranked team in the land in their 2025 season opener. Aidan Iacovelli and Jack Laborde had 10 kills each to lead Endicott and Matty Tiernan paced the offense with 21 assists.
