LITTLE LEAGUE ALL-STARS
Boxford 12, Beverly 1: Seven runs scored in the final inning broke open a close game and saw the Garden City boys fall in their opener of the District 15 Williamsport all-star tournament at Stage Fort Park in Gloucester.
Mikey Moschella gave up just three hits and three runs for Beverly in a strong starting pitching assignment, striking out four.
Maddox Henderson, Jack Mullady and Cormac Fields (who scored the run for his team) had the hits for Beverly, with Liam Archibald, Henderson and Fields also stealing one base apiece.
AGGANIS GIRLS BASKETBALL
North 54, South 48: Kiley Bloom of Bishop Fenwick earned MVP honors after scoring 16 points, including four 3-pointers, to power her squad to victory at Lynn Classical’s gymnasium.
SUMMER BASEBALL
North Shore Navigators 8, Upper Valley Nighthawks 4: Four runs in the top of the first inning and three more in the fifth helped pave the way for the Navs (now 5-12) to double up their hosts at the Maxfield Sports Complex. Jaydon Aukai Kea belted a solo home run for North Shore, Aidan Sengenberger delived a two-run single, and Ethan Wilson and Alex Marot both had two hits, scored a run and drove in another. Five relief pitchers completely shut down Upper Valley by throwing a combined six innings of 3-hit, no-run baseball.
