Over the upcoming Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend, fishing licenses won’t be required for adult Minnesotans accompanied by youth ages 15 or younger while trying to pull whoppers from the state’s lakes.
Take a Kid Ice Fishing Weekend is a statewide promotion offered by the Department of Natural Resources Saturday, Sunday and Monday as an opportunity for quality family time as well as fishing.
In areas of the state where the lakes surface is not safe for walking on, the DNR suggests participants try their luck from the shores of a Minnesota trout stream.
The DNR’s website’s fishing page offers regulations, basic instructions and suggestions for where to fish. Also listed is information about how to watch a live webinar Wednesday from a Minnesota lake.
