FLINTSTONE — A missing New Jersey woman was located in Green Ridge State Forest early Friday morning by Maryland Department of Natural Resource Police and transported to the hospital for evaluation, according to a state police spokesperson.
“We received a call from Somerset County (New Jersey) Police looking for a missing 70-year-old female, driving a blue Toyota,” Maryland State Police Cpl. Dwight Diehl said. “They did a cellphone ping and said she was in (the area of) Green Ridge State Forest.”
Diehl said that National Resource Police checked the area, located the vehicle and the woman. Troopers then responded to assist Natural Resources Police.
The Allegany County Joint Communications Center dispatched an ambulance at approximately 12:30 a.m. to the area of Old Williams Road and National Pike, according to a Joint Communications Center spokesperson.
The woman was transported to UPMC Western Maryland, according to Diehl.
The reason for the transport to the hospital or her current condition could not be provided Friday morning.
The Times-News contacted the Somerset County (N.J.) Sheriff’s Office for comment and was referred to the county prosecutor’s office for additional information. No additional information was immediately available.
