Lewiston Highway and Drainage Department employee Mike Weiss has been named the new highway superintendent for the town.
In his eight years working for the department, Weiss’ work has included replacing water lines, checking houses for drainage issues, and driving snowplows through the town. He had also done county maintenance work for six years.
He said his interest in the job came from a desire to improve the situation for residents dealing with drainage and road issues, and a desire to make more of a difference in Lewiston.
“We have some major drainage issues going on in the town,” Weiss said. “I’d like to see those get taken care of.”
Current highway superintendent Mitch Zahno submitted his resignation letter at Monday’s town board meeting, with his last day being Sept. 2.
Weiss’s salary would be the same as Zahno’s, set at $80,565.
