Middleport Beautification Committee is sponsoring National Night Out in the village of Middleport on Tuesday. Events are slated from 5 to 8:45 p.m.
National Night Out is a nationwide campaign to foster local police-community partnerships. NNO events are alcohol- and drug-free and provide a safe environment in which youths and adults can meet local first responders.
Middleport Beautification Committee’s summer music series, Concerts in the Parks, will conclude Tuesday with two concerts: One by Stanton Rock ‘n Roll Band at 5:15 p.m. and another by Doc’s Pocket Change at 7:15 p.m. Between performances the Country Line Dancers will do a demonstration.
Children’s activities include cookie decorating at Alternative Grounds Cafe, button making at Royalton Hartland Community Library, sidewalk chalk drawing, face painting, temporary tattoos, a dunk tank and outdoor games. Wolcottsville Wildlife Rescue is bringing animals to display. Middleport Fire Department and other local fire companies will have equipment displays and activities for children as well.
Niagara County Sheriff’s deputies and Middleport Police Department officers will be present to meet with community members. The sheriff’s K-9 unit will do demonstrations and the sheriff’s Victim
Assistance Unit will have information. Also bringing information to share is the Cornell Cooperative Extension’s natural resources educator.
Greenlief’s and Parker’s Pit BBQ food trucks will be on site for the event.
