MANCHESTER -BY-THE-SEA — Middle-schoolers from Manchester and Essex will present this year’s musical, “High School Musical Jr.” this weekend. The cast of 30 Manchester Essex Regional Middle School students tell the story of basketball team captain and resident jock Troy, who discovers that brainy Gabriella, a girl he met singing karaoke on a ski trip, has just enrolled at East High. The couple cause an upheaval among the school’s cliques of Jocks, Brainiacs, and Thespians when they decide to audition for the high school musical. Although many students resent the threat posed to the “status quo,” Troy and Gabriella’s alliance might just open the door for others to shine as well.Performances are Friday, Jan. 26, and Saturday, Jan. 27, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Jan. 28, at 2 p.m. in the school auditorium, 36 Lincoln St. in Manchester. The show is about two hours with intermission. Tickets are $15 and may be purchased in advance at https://bit.ly/496snDM. Some tickets may be available at the door.
